Ready to Kill (The Nathan McBride Series)

Bestselling author Andrew Peterson is back with a heart-stopping fourth installment of his wildly popular Nathan McBride series.

Ready to Kill (The Nathan McBride Series)

When a mysterious note referencing a top-secret US operation is tossed over the wall of the embassy in Nicaragua, Nathan McBride and his old pal Harv are called out of retirement by CIA Director Rebecca Cantrell and sent to Central America. Cantrell wants the situation resolved quickly and knows that Nathan is the man to do it; after all, he has a history with the place. The jungle he and Harv are about to land in is the same one that Nathan barely escaped with his life decades before, an ordeal that left him physically and psychologically scarred. To make it out alive a second time, Nathan will have to face down his own demons and square off with a ruthless killer who learned from the best, Nathan himself.

The CIA Director, requests that Nathan McBride and his business partner, Harv, go on a covert mission in Nicaragua. The Embassy received a message that refers to one of their previous training missions. This message leads them to a rendezvous location that is only known by a few individuals that were trained by them.

Codename Viper's father has been murdered in the small mining town of Santaviilla, Nicaragua. Viper is requesting that Harv assist him in tracking down the murderer. Santavilla is a small village and the people are poor. The working conditions are deplorable and the area is an environmental mess. The material they are mining for is gold so one can see the potential for greed and corruption. And, yes, it abounds on many different levels.

There is a lot of sniper psychology in the contents of this novel.. The reader is able to firmly grasp the mindsets of Nate, Harv, Viper and Raven. There is a lot of stealth involved in the attempt of this mission. And, if you are claustrophobic the scene in the mine at the end will stir that up! A lot of loose ends are tied up concerning the betrayal of Nate that left him physically and psychologically marked for life.

I found it to be a most intriguing read with a blend of characters that meshed well. I also liked the teamwork that the book emphasized. Action, adventure and lots of excitement abound throughout the novel

Most highly recommended.
